Be the first to review this“NEMONEMO” (네모네모), released on September 30, 2024, is the title track of YENA’s third single album and a vibrant staple of the “Yena genre”. The song’s core metaphor—conceived by Zico, who also contributed to the lyrics—likens the sharp corners of a square (nemo in Korean) to the prickly, “crooked” moments in a relationship where partners inadvertently hurt one another. This hyperactive electronic dance track draws heavy inspiration from the kitschy, high-energy vibes of 2nd-generation J-pop and groups like Orange Caramel, blending millennial nostalgia with a modern, “MZ sensibility”. Through its quirky choreography and bright music video, “NEMONEMO” explores the idea that love isn’t always a smooth circle, but something that can be messy, sharp, and worth embracing even when it “pricks”.
